The Basics of Ceramic Coating Care
Maintaining your ceramic coating is simpler than maintaining unprotected paint, but it does require following specific guidelines. The coating's hydrophobic properties and chemical resistance make regular washing easier and more effective, but using the wrong products or techniques can degrade the coating prematurely.
Do's of Ceramic Coating Maintenance
Use pH-neutral car wash soap for every wash. Use the two-bucket wash method with grit guards. Dry with clean, high-quality microfiber towels. Wash your vehicle every 2–3 weeks to prevent contaminant buildup. Remove bird droppings, tree sap, and bug splatter as soon as possible. Schedule professional maintenance washes every 4–6 weeks.
Don'ts of Ceramic Coating Maintenance
Never use automatic car washes — their brushes will damage the coating. Don't use dish soap or harsh detergents. Avoid abrasive wash mitts or sponges. Don't apply wax or sealant on top of ceramic coating — it's unnecessary and can interfere with the coating's properties. Don't let contaminants sit on the surface for extended periods.
